This person will help recruit volunteers, connect people with opportunities that match their interests and skills, support onboarding and training, coordinate volunteer involvement in campaigns and events, and help ensure volunteers feel informed, valued, and connected to the work of PD Avengers.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, keeping multiple projects organized, and helping others contribute in meaningful ways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Recruitment: Identify volunteer needs and help recruit people for campaigns, events, projects, committees, and other PD Avengers initiatives.

  • Volunteer Matching: Learn about volunteers’ interests, experience, availability, and skills, and connect them with opportunities where they can make a meaningful contribution.

  • Onboarding and Training: Develop and coordinate a simple, welcoming onboarding process so volunteers understand PD Avengers, their role, expectations, and available resources.

  • Volunteer Communication: Maintain regular communication with volunteers through email, virtual meetings, newsletters, and other digital platforms.

  • Volunteer Coordination: Help schedule, organize, and support volunteers participating in online and in-person events, campaigns, meetings, and special projects.

  • Volunteer Database Management: Maintain accurate volunteer records, including contact information, interests, skills, availability, participation, and areas of involvement.

  • Engagement and Retention: Build relationships with volunteers, identify ways to keep them involved, gather feedback, and recognize their contributions.

  • Project Support: Work with PD Avengers leadership and project leads to identify volunteer needs and ensure volunteers have the information and support required to succeed.

  • Reporting: Track volunteer participation and engagement and provide regular updates on volunteer activity, needs, opportunities, and challenges.

  • Volunteer Recognition: Help develop ways to celebrate and acknowledge volunteers and the contributions they make to PD Avengers.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience coordinating volunteers, community members, teams, or projects.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • The ability to build relationships with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences.

  • The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.

  • Comfort working remotely and collaborating with people in different locations and time zones.

  • Experience using digital tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, spreadsheets, databases, and online communication platforms.

  • An interest in nonprofit work, advocacy, community engagement, or Parkinson’s disease.

Previous nonprofit or volunteer-management experience is an asset but is not required.

Additional Assets

The following would be helpful, but are not required:

  • Experience coordinating events or campaigns.

  • Experience with volunteer management systems or CRM platforms.

  • Social media or digital communications experience.

  • Experience working with international or distributed communities.

  • Fluency in more than one language.

  • Personal or professional experience with Parkinson’s disease or another health-related community.

What We’re Looking For

The right person for this role is someone who is dependable, approachable, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.

Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that volunteers are not simply a resource to manage. They are people giving their time, experience, skills, and energy to something they care about. We want every volunteer to feel that their contribution matters.

About PD Avengers

PD Avengers is a patient-led global alliance that brings together people, organizations, ideas, and information from across the Parkinson’s community to turn shared priorities into coordinated action.

We listen to people affected by Parkinson’s, identify what matters most, connect lived experience with organizations, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and advocates, and help people around the world act on those priorities in ways that make sense in their own communities.

Through initiatives such as the Community Pulse, PD Avengers gathers ongoing insight about the experiences, needs, and priorities of the Parkinson’s community. We use that understanding to inform advocacy, research, prevention, policy, partnerships, and community action, and to measure whether meaningful change is happening over time.

Our role is not to duplicate the work already being done by Parkinson’s organizations around the world. It is to connect and strengthen that work, elevate independent community voices, reduce fragmentation, and help turn local efforts into coordinated global momentum.

Our approach is simple:

Listen → Understand → Prioritize → Connect → Act → Measure

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected global Parkinson’s community focused on improving life today while accelerating progress toward preventing and ending Parkinson’s disease.
